Flash Forward has yet to be picked up by ABC, but in an unprecedented move, the network has started airing promotional ads for the show despite this fact. During last night’s 100th episode of Lost, ABC aired the “What Did You See” promo videos which show various quick flashes. One is of some students leaving a school, another of a couple kissing at their wedding, one that shows a coffin being carried through a procession, a surfer riding a wave, and finally what appears to be an ultrasound picture. Whether these are intended to be flashes that the characters in the show see, or just random images meant to drum up discussions is unclear. Hell, for all we know it could be the beginning of a new ARG online game. You can see the commercials in the video below.

Flash Forward is a new pilot that seems destined to become a series next fall for ABC. It is loosely based on a Robert J. Sawyer novel called Flashes. The series will star Joseph Fiennes and is about a global even that causes everyone on the planet to lose consciousness for two minutes and seventeen seconds. During the blackout they all see a moment exactly 5 months into their future. When the survivors wake up they learn that almost 40 million people around the world died during the blackouts due to planes falling from the sky, cars crashing on the interstates, and various other accidents. The survivors attempt to come to grips with the reality of what happened as they search for the reasons why, and learn whether they can change what happened, or if its all pre-destined.
